A WAVY HAIR DAY

It's now got to the stage where I'm more used to looking at myself in the mirror and seeing a Kate with wavy hair than with straight hair. As the summer months approach us, I try to decrease the amount of heat that I use on my hair. This includes in the decline in the use of my beloved GHD straighteners, in favour for something a bit different. Since getting my hair slowly cut shorter and shorter I've been loving sporting this wavy hair on a day to day basis.

One of the reasons I love doing this, is because it cuts down on hair styling time both when I wash my hair and in the mornings. I generally shower and wash my hair in the evening as part of my wind down routine before bed, so I dry my hair for a bit while still making sure it has a bit of moisture to it. This helps create more defined waves, if you want something looser and more beachy salt spray wave looking then make sure your hair is a little more dry. Although my hair is very thick I find I can do two plaits, one either side of my head which A. makes for a comfy nights sleep without hair in my face everywhere, and B. means if I feel like rocking cutesy plaits the next morning I can. I like to leave my plaits in for as long as possible the morning after I put them in just so the waves have time to develop nicely. In terms of styling I tend to just give my hair a quick poof up with my hands when I've taken the plaits out and that's me out of the door. Being a fan of a hair wash every-other day this look also means second day lived in waves which is another time saver. In general, I've been loving this wavy look and I can tell it's something I'm going to keep sporting for the near future.

Do you ever wear your hair wavy?

  1. I go through phases of doing this! It's like the perfect no-heat, waves solution, and one that actually works for me! I also find that if I put an oil or leave-in conditioner in, it absorbs better cos it isn't rubbing all over my pillow! If that makes sense... haha :P

  2. Since I am very lazy, I always go for the night-before-plaits thing so I can wake up and only spend around 2 minutes on my hair which means more time for sleep (#priorities)

  3. Those waves look gorg! Mine never seem to turn out quite as nice, I think I need to let my hair air dry for a bit longer before I plait it. Thanks for sharing lovely, this is a great idea for an easy, heatless summer style :) x Krista
