My New Years Resolutions

When it comes to new years resolutions I've never been one to make myself a massive list and stick to them everyday of them year. Instead, I tend to create some general rules which try to influence my life a bit more in that coming year. The lovely January calendar in this photo is courtesy of

Become Healthier
In body and mind. By healthier in terms of body I do not mean losing pounds upon pounds and becoming a new looking person, I simply mean slightly more toned and more physically fit. Term one at university saw a big change in diet for me, and I really want to keep an eye on what I'm eating still to make sure I get a balanced diet. In terms of mind I'd like to be in a more balanced place, and stop comparing myself to others.

Continually Improve
There are a couple of things I'd like to become better at this year. Staying calm when the work gets tough. Improve my badminton skills. Learn some more sign language and be able to hold a simple conversation in it. I'd like to improve many skills, rather than simply plodding along at the same stage.

Go Above and Beyond
I don't want to be someone who just cruises through university, I want to do well. I also want to expand my knowledge of the field, so whether this means reading articles or going to optional talks then this is what I aim to do. There are so many opportunities at university, and I'd love to make the most of them while I have the chance.

Remember What Life Is All About
At university it's quite is easy to get lost in a world of work and socialising, but this year I want to keep remembering why I'm here and the path I'm on. Remember what's important to me in life, my family, my friends, and my health.

What are your new years resolutions?

  1. Fab resolutions! I totally advocate getting as much as you can out of uni, join all the clubs and extra things you can as they are so essential when job hunting! I wish I had taken up more of the chances when I was there :) x

  3. Nice resolutions! I like that they are all self improvement - I think that that is a positive thing! I would like to work on my health as well, but also in developing more creative skills :)

  5. Remembering what life is all about is key. My first 3 years of college I was so stressed all the time and put so much pressure on myself, it wasn't until I was having a huge breakdown over a test that my mom told me, "You know in the scheme of things, with world hunger, poverty, and violence - failing a test is really not that big of a deal." lol. It was like a lightbulb. Now I just concentrate of loving and spreading love, everything else is secondary :)

Good luck with your resolutions, Happy New Year!
