Why Do I Blog? My Blogging Journey

A couple of days ago I read a post by an amazing fellow blogger Thunderlove (check out her post here) in which she spoke about the mass amount of 'blogging advice' that is thrown around the internet. PR companies, increasing traffic, and generally how to have a successful blog seem to be the big advice areas at the moment. This got me thinking about the reason I blog, and why started a blog in the first place.

I started my blog originally as MacLoverGirl96, as a side step to go along with my youtube channel (which has taken the very back seat nowadays). It seemed an obvious move, as most youtubers had a blog in which they could write posts instead of filming a video. From June 2011 up until late April 2013 my blog stayed as MacLoverGirl96, when I decided it was time for a change. Beauty Babbles was a name that popped into my head at about 11pm one night when I was in bed, and I fell in love with my blog all over again.

Beauty Babbles has always been designed by me, and each time I redesign it I love it more and more. I find myself giving my blog a revamp when I'm feeling uninspired with it, or when I feel like it just doesn't reflect who I am anymore. There's no doubt I've changed over the past 3 years of blogging, but why I blog still remains the same. I blog because I love it. I love taking the photos for posts, and my photography skills have improved dramatically as a result. I love interacting with other bloggers, whether this is through twitter, blog comments, letters or even in real life! I love writing the posts, making sure I get my message across. I love seeing the post come together, with all its parts. I love feeling like I'm talking to a friend, whether it's about beauty or some of my advice posts (Like my moving out post here).

Blogging has never been about making money, or having a massive audience - each new follower I get I simply appreciate that they want to read what I've created, just like when someone buys an inventors product. I'm proud of my blog, and I really hope that other bloggers feel the same way as me. The blogging community inevitably will change in the coming years, but the hopeless romantic in me will always pray that at the bottom of the blogs is passion and love for what is produced, rather than the need for money and success.

Why do you blog/read blogs?

  1. So lovely post. I really like your blog. I blog because I love the feeling when I blog, I love my photos, I love what I write, my blog design and everything about my blog. I read beauty blogs a lot, then about a couple of months now I decided to create my own blog, and I'm so happy now.

  2. Great post! I write my blog to get my thoughts out mainly -sometimes this gets me in trouble when it's taken the wrong way bt it's my place on the net and I love that. It's a great place for me to switch off from being a mum too!

  3. Great post, I think people can get so caught up in the money making side that they forget to enjoy it. I blog cause it's fun and it's a good way to relax, focusing on all the positives in life.

  4. I love this because I totally agree! I blog because I like sharing things that make me happy and it makes me happy to blog, not because I want fame or success - I just like sharing my world with other lovely people :) x

  13. This is lovely. When the content creator is doing it for the love and passion of it, that shows :) I do respect and admire bloggers that happen to make a living out of something they love, but it's a bummer seeing tons of blogs going at it with a money-making mind. Great post!

  14. What a lovely post - it's really refreshing to read blogs where the person behind it is truly doing it because they love it, not to try and make money!

  15. I honestly couldn't be more happy to know there's still bloggers who write for the love they feel for it and not for the money or free products. I blog because I love to share my passion for things in life, it's like you said, a friend I'm talking to. Really inspiring post xx

  16. I think it really shows when someone writes because they love it. I do think it's important to get your blog out there, publicize it anyway you can, but the key is patience. When you write because you love it and you're good at it, people will see it. Keep producing good content and people will appreciate it.

  19. I love blogging because I write about something I am truely passionate about. I love to share my thoughts, and I don't think I could ever blog if I wasn't interested in reading what I was writing. :)

  25. Really liked what you had to say...honestly it really touched me as a fellow blogger because I have definitely found myself caught in the trap of jealousy over other bloggers "more successful" blogs or envious of their fame and success. I sometimes have to remind myself why I started blogging (bc I love it like you!) and not compare myself to a million others. Thanks for writing this! Love your blog!

  26. Your blog design skills are amazing! And I agree, we all need to take a step back and realize why we started blogging and really stay true to ourselves. I recently realized this and am in the process of having my blog really reflect me,
