Bloggers Around The World - Hong Kong/Spain

Today's blogger has been to and lived in many places including Hong Kong, Spain, Russia and England and she's also a lovely lovely person and one of the best enablers in the world! (My bank account doesn't always love her so much).

1. You moved to Hong Kong when you were 8. Do you have any memories about leaving the UK? Were you sad?

1) To be honest, I was so young that I don't really remember leaving. I remember going through stages of being excited and sad for a few months beforehand, but to be honest, I had no idea where Hong Kong even was! I do actually remember the night I arrived, I had a strange mix of homesickness, jet lag and just pure shock and my Dad came to sleep in my bed to comfort me, but he ended up taking up my entire single bed and I didn't sleep a wink!!

2. How did you get into makeup?

I'm not really sure actually! Back in 2008/9, I somehow ended up watching some YT videos about beauty by people like JuicyStar07, and I sort of fell in love! My love for beauty continued to grow, and as I loved and always studied art at school - I wasn't bad at it either - so I just kept going!

3. You've lived in the UK, Hong Kong and Spain. Which do you prefer the most?

I've actually lived in Russia as well, but only for 4 months! It's really hard to say because they're all so, so different. England will always be my home, the place where (most of) my family is, and obviously somewhere I will always fit in. Hong Kong also feels like home as I lived there for 10 years, but in a different way? I guess it's like when you move to university, you make a life for yourself there and it feels like home. So, for me, I have 3 homes - London, Bath (where I go to uni) and HK. Spain is amazing, but I've only been here 5 months so it doesn't really compare to the UK/HK when it comes to home comforts, but it is an incredible place, and I think that I will always have a place in my heart for Madrid.

4. Which five beauty products could you not live without?

Easy. Concealer (probably NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer), mascara, an eyebrow product (loving the Benefit Gimme Brow), blush and a bronze/brown/taupe lid colour!

5. What inspired you to create your youtube channel?

I actually started up my YT channel in late 2009 - nearly 5 years ago now - so the scene was a little different back then! Some favourites that really got me into filming were Juicystar07, Allthatglitters21 and Lollipop26 who is no longer on YT, but runs the amazing blog 'Buy now, Blog later.'

6. Who's fashion sense do you wish you could steal?

I'm quite a simple girl when it comes to style, so although I wish I could pull of the same styles as Kavita from SHE WEARS FASHION, I'm a sucker for Anna's (ViviannaLovesMakeup) chic, sophisticated style. Ah what I would do to have that girls wardrobe!

7. Do you have a 'signature' fragrance that you always wear?

I'm a bit fickle when it comes to fragrance, but when in doubt I tend to always go back to either Daisy by Marc Jacobs or Rose by Paul Smith - I guess I have a thing for floral scents!

8. What's your favourite thing about being a part of the blogger community?

This is very easy to answer - the support is amazing. Although girls will be girls and a bit of drama is known to break out once in a while, the majority of bloggers are absolutely wonderful and I have made so many new friends through it. I know that if I'm feeling upset or unsure, I can go on twitter and have my day brightened in an instant. Everyone is so lovely and always willing to help when they can. In short, it's just a wonderful thing to be a part of - there is so much love and support floating around!

I hope you enjoyed reading Isobel's answers as much as I did, be sure to head over to her blog to read some of her posts, and follow her of course! See you next week.

  1. Oh wow, moving to Hong Kong at that age would have terrified me! I always lived in the same house growing up, my parents still live there now, I think I'm really attached to it. My mum told me she sold it once as a joke and I almost cried. Awkward!

  2. I love this feature! I already followed Isobel and Zazie, but I've discovered some new blogs too. I just wish I lived somewhere more interesting than London so I'd have a shot at being interviewed, haha x
