I did English Literature for A Level which although was throughly enjoyable it was also sad because I felt like I had to read to read not read for fun. As a fond watcher of ItsWayPastMyBedtime I was introduced to Goodreads which I started to use to build a list of the books I'd wanted to read. Today I thought I'd bring to you some of the books I plan to read this summer.
1. And the Mountains Echoed - Khaled Hosseini
My favourite book ever is 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' and so obviously I really want to read Hosseini's next book. I actually got my Dad this for christmas and now I've borrowed it to read, although my Dad did say it was more confusing than the previous two books.
2. Roundabout - Rhiannon Lassiter
This is a book I don't know much about but my Mum bought it ages ago for me so I think I should finally get round to reading it.
3. Before I Die - Jenny Downham
I'm trying to read books that make me look at the world differently, I have read this book before but not in as much depth or detail as I wanted to. I'm a slow reader as I like to read every little bit which I don't feel like I did last time I read this.
4. The Time of My Life - Cecelia Ahem
I've started to read this book twice. Once when I was on holiday in Barcelona and once the other month but for some reason I never get fully into it. This book has great reviews and I really am going to perservere and finish it off.
5. The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
This is the book I'm currently reading, the great thing about goodreads is you can update which page you're on and give your thoughts so far. I knew the film was coming out and I'm always a book before film kind of girl so obvisouly I had to read this. One thing I love about this book is the writing style, it's so hard to explain but seriously - just. read. it!
6. Please, Daddy, No - Stuart Howarth
I picked this book up for £1 in WHSmith ages ago and haven't got round to reading it yet. It's about a boy who is abused by his father and although I'm usually a romantic chick lit reader this sounds really interesting.
So that's it, if you want to follow me on Goodreads as track my progress click here. I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post and let me know of any books you are wanting to read or recommendations for me.
I have tried and failed to read The Time of My Life so many times, just can't get into it! Its so rare for me to finish a book - all others on your list are absolutely wonderful though! x
